5 Winter Wedding Venues for a Picture-Perfect Celebration

Winter romance: 5 wedding venues for a picture-perfect wedding celebration

So, you’ve chosen Winter as your wedding season, and the venue search begins. But where to start? From a unique garden venue in lively Liverpool to a grand country house steeped in history and surrounded by natural beauty in North Yorkshire we share six of our favourite UK wedding venues that are perfect for the cooler months.

Sefton Park Palm House in Liverpool

This distinctive venue is a dome-shaped, Victorian glass palm house in Sefton Park’s heart. A winner of Hitched Best City Wedding Venue, the venue opened its doors to the public in 1896. This Grade 2-listed historical venue once housed an eclectic collection of exotic plants (some of which still exist today!).

These days, it’s a lively arts and cultural venue embellished with natural surroundings and abundant greenery, available for exclusive private hire and very popular as a wedding venue. Sefton Park Palm House is surrounded by 235 acres of beautiful parkland, which looks as beautiful in Winter as any other season. Hosting up to 220 seated guests and 400 standing, the Palm House looks magical in winter – dressed up with your lighting and your choice of décor to match the theme of your wedding.

The Mansion, Roundhay Park in West Yorkshire

This glamorous wedding venue in West Yorkshire will surely impress you and your guests. The Mansion is surrounded by acres of park, greenery, woodlands and lakes and is a site to behold during Winter. Your wedding party can make the most of impressive views that overlook the Upper Lake of Roundhay Park or take a stroll on foot around the grounds to explore. Indoors, the venue is steeped in luxury with a grand, colonnaded entrance and grand double staircase. This Leeds-based venue hosts up to 220 guests for wedding ceremonies and up to 250 people for evening receptions.

Many couples make their winter wedding memorable at The Mansion through warming décor such as luxurious velvet, glitzy metallics and seasonal greenery and floral arrangements to create a unique look and feel.

Howsham Hall, Malton in North Yorkshire

Nestled in the North Yorkshire countryside in the beautiful village of Malton, Howsham Hall is a firm favourite among our winter wedding couples. Surrounded by nature, this country house features dazzling chandeliers, tastefully decorated rooms with grand windows for guests to take in the scenery, and 12 luxury suites with sheepskin rugs and four poster beds. The bridal suite is one of the biggest in Europe, and the reason many couples choose to host their wedding here.

Howsham Hall is situated close to Harrogate and York, making it a convenient location for your guests who may want to soak in the culture and explore what’s nearby. Up to 96 people can be seated in the drawing room for dinner, and 250 in a marquee in the grounds.

Rise Hall, Beverley in East Yorkshire

This Grade II stately country house in Beverley – a small market and minster town, is another excellent choice for those couples looking for a winter wedding venue in Yorkshire. Boasting a grand staircase, a luxury bridal suite and 31 bedrooms, Rise Hall hosts up to 180 guests for the wedding ceremony and the reception.

Couples can hire the venue exclusively, ensuring that you can make the most of all the space and facilities that Rise Hall has to offer. Many couples are impressed by the Gallery and Belvedere Hall – two perfect indoor locations for your drinks reception. The Gallery features a cantilevered stone staircase and a ceiling that’s crowned by a central belvedere to maximise natural light. Elsewhere, there’s no shortage of indoor space. The Drawing Room, The Library and Morning Room are the perfect spots to host your wedding ceremony. The library is a particularly cosy spot for a winter wedding, featuring a roaring, open fire to create a snug and home-like atmosphere.

To lean into the winter season, Rise Hall permits the use of fireworks and live music, so you can design your day as you please,

The Walled Garden, Helperby in North Yorkshire

If you’ve chosen a winter date, but still want your wedding to involve the outdoors – The Walled Garden in Helperby is fantastic venue option. During winter, your wedding will be hosted under a fully-covered marquee or structure of your choice. This is where you can really get creative and create a cosy setting for your guests to drink, dance and unwind (with heating of course). There’s also a gorgeous 3-bedroom Gardener’s Cottage onsite that can be booked separately – perfect for the wedding morning and overnight accommodation.

Only a limited number of weddings are hosted in the Walled Garden each year, so this is truly an exclusive winter wedding venue.
