A canapé is a small, bite sized starter often made to look very decorative. Traditionally, it would have a bread or cracker base and be served cold, but nowadays the definition is much wider. Canapés can be hot or cold, sweet or savoury and may come in decorative, non-edible containers as well as edible ones. These are also called hors d'oeuvres in American English.

We'd recommend 3-5 canapés per person, depending how long your drinks reception is.

The ideal time for a canapé reception for your event is 1 to 1.5 hours- just the right amount of time for you to welcome guests, mingle and grab a glass of something chilled!
