What we like: 42 The Calls is a bastion of style in the heart of Leeds. Overlooking the River Aire, it’s an unusual townhouse, having been converted from a former corn mill. The rooms are a mix of modern loft-living style with luxe furnishings, bringing an overall air of plush warmth.

With all the usual amenities you can expect from a 4* hotel (24 hour room service, laundry, luggage storage), unexpected perks include a welcome drink on arrival, complimentary shoeshine, and shortbread and fudge in your room. And pets are welcome too! What’s more – the breakfasts here are legendary, with a staggering choice of 12 sausages.

What we like: Oozing Art Deco opulence, The New Ellington is centrally located, just 5 minutes’ stroll from the train station and shopping districts, and only 10 minutes’ walk from the First Direct Arena and the universities. It’s housed in a cute Georgian townhouse in the financial district, a little haven of calm behind its period façade.

As well as the usual 4* perks, such as king-sized beds in every room, bathrobes and slippers for all guests, 24 hour room service and Egyptian cotton bedlinen, the New Ellington is home to the Gin Garden, its inhouse bar serving more than 300 varieties of gin, as well as a wide selection of cocktails and beers. The hotel describes it as a ‘saloon experience’ – which is enough to get us hooked!

What we like: Haley’s is a hotel like hotels used to be. A cosy yet spacious affair that maximises the grandeur of the country house hotel, it’s down a quiet street in the leafy bohemian suburb of Headingley – a lovely conservation area just two miles from the city centre.

Decorated in a traditionally elegant fashion, Haley’s retains all the old-world charm of yesteryear, with friendly and professional service to match. It’s ideally situated with the ring road being minutes away, making it an ideal base for your guests to explore everything that Leeds has to offer.

There’s ample parking at the hotel too, which is useful for guests that may have travelled from afar. Top off your stay by taking your meals at their award-winning restaurant – particularly the Sunday lunch!

What we like:

Built around nine acres of gardens and woodland, Weetwood Hall is a charming period building with all the luxury amenities you’d expect from a 4* hotel, conveniently situated just off the Leeds ring road. There is a choice of places to eat including the lounge and the Cask Marque-accredited Stables Pub – perfect if you are a fan of real ales. Opening early 2017 is a newly built 120-seat Mediterranean restaurant, Convive.

What’s more, when you stay at Weetwood, you get free access (with regularly-scheduled transport) to the nearby David Lloyd Club Leeds.

What we like:

Thorpe Park Hotel and Spa couldn’t be more conveniently located for your travelling wedding guests, being just outside the Leeds ring road, and a few minutes’ drive from the M1. It’s an ideal base from which to travel to our Leeds wedding venues, as well as exploring the surrounding Yorkshire countryside.

This hotel is modern and stylish, with the emphasis very much on wellbeing and relaxation. The spa and fitness facilities are second to none, and the restaurant and bar have a focus on seasonal produce sourced from quality local suppliers. Even though the owners operate several hotels throughout the country, Thorpe Park feels very much more intimate that its scale suggests, and is very much part of the thriving Leeds hospitality scene.

What we like: Where can you go wrong with Marriott?! Renowned for a luxury 4* experience throughout the world, staying in a Marriott hotel is always a good idea. With this Leeds Marriot situated almost opposite famed retail heaven, Leeds Trinity, and the train station a few minutes’ walk away, your guests couldn’t be more in the thick of city centre life.

The hotel now has Cast Iron Bar & Grill. On the menu you’ll find old-school classics, much-loved favourites from around the world, and interesting new creations, made with ingredients that were meant to be together.  There’s light bites as well as hearty meals. And don’t forget the tender, big-flavoured steaks – made from 28-day aged cuts  of premium British beef.
