Fresh from winning gold and silver medals at the Rio Olympics, followed by a heroic demonstration of brotherly love at the Triathlon World Series in Mexico, Leeds-born triathletes Alistair and Jonny Brownlee joined us last week for a celebratory dinner at The Mansion in Roundhay Park.
We put on a seasonal dinner fit for the Olympic winners, with a Halloween menu of cream of Jerusalem artichoke soup served in mini pumpkins, chorizo and bean casserole served in a cauldron with smoked pork fillet, boudin noir wrapped in pancetta and roasted chestnuts. Dessert served in a witches hat with dry ice was sticky toffee pudding, orange and ginger caramel sauce and baby toffee apple with cinder toffee. Other guests drawn from the Leeds business community joined the duo.
